Midwestern Electric, LLC. (MWE) is looking for an Electrical Estimator to prepare detailed estimates for the project based on the design documents, narratives, and specifications, focusing on the Electrical trade. This position will report to the Division Manager. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The items listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
• Performs routine duties independently, using sound judgment, thoroughness, and competence.
• Prepare quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for all Electrical items incorporated in the scope from conceptual design through completed construction documents. Preliminary design work may be required to complete conceptual estimates.
• Daily use of Accubid Pro.
• Analyze existing site conditions and all contract documents (plans, specifications, etc.) to determine the required scope that is not already indicated.
• Develop working relationships with local material suppliers and equipment vendors to solicit accurate and current pricing of electrical material packages and miscellaneous materials.
• Perform constructability analysis of project documents. Communicate design and constructability issues to the project team per the project contract.
• Ensure general conditions and general requirements items are adequately addressed in the estimate.
• Develop a value analysis by defining alternatives to the proposed Electrical systems, materials and equipment that are more cost-efficient.
• Act as a liaison with engineers, design consultants, MWE staff, client and owner representatives to resolve Electrical issues related to the project preconstruction efforts.
• Prepare estimates and proposals for all contract types including lump sum, GMP, Cost Plus, etc.
• Participate in estimate reviews with the design team and client.
• Lead project hand-off to Project Managers to ensure proper transfer of knowledge from estimate to preconstruction.
• Prepare scope requisitions for the bidding/procurement of Electrical systems; coordinate with fellow estimators to eliminate scope gaps and overlaps.
• Lead the evaluation of vendor and subcontractor proposals relative to their scope of work. Determine scope coverage and manage risk of scope gaps.
• Assist project staff in evaluating large change orders.
• Must perform other duties as assigned.

• Proven written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules.
• Knowledge and experience on Excel Formulas is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Accubid Software preferred.

The High Load Technician is responsible for Escorting Specialized/High Loads via a designated route, ensuring that utilities and other obstructions are raised and/or repositioned for safe travel. These utilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

Job description:
The primary responsibility for this position consists of installing fiber duct, conduit and cable through the use of directional drilling, trenching and/or pulling equipment. Ancillary responsibilities include job-site safety, utility location, construction coordination, as well as equipment mobilization and maintenance.
Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate directional drills/locators and similar heavy equipment;
Drive/tow truck with drill to job site;
Conduct pre-job site surveys to assure all utilities have been located and accounted for;
Perform routine labor (i.e. potholing, equipment set-up, conduit/duct/cable placement) as required;
Assure that all located utilities in the construction path have been potholed;
Complete regular maintenance on trucks and boring machines;
Clean, check fluid levels and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post-trip inspections and required paperwork, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment;
Communicate with Supervisor daily;
Provide training and assistance to coworkers as needed;
Perform clean-up and housekeeping activities.

  • Oversee and manage the company’s storage facility which includes contracts, billing, and payments
  • Lead and supervise office staff to promote a positive and productive working environment
  • Review and manage compliance of subcontract documentation, insurance requirements, and bonds
  • Facilitates new employee orientation by preparing paperwork packets, processing required documentation.
  • Order and coordinate with IT for new computer installation, as well as communicating with IT on related issues.
  • Planning office layout, moves, and changes to workstations.
  • Performs tasks related to other department functions (i.e., Accounting, Human Resources, Safety, etc.) as required including sending requested documentation
  • Drafting reports and delivering presentations to Executive Management
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Team Support:

  • Provide administrative support to Construction Admins and the management team.
  • Facilitate effective communication between field and office staff, ensuring all parties are informed and aligned.

Office Manager Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business administration, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of office management experience within the construction industry, including experience in managing staff
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Above average proficiency in basic functions like data entry, formatting, and simple formulas, along with a solid understanding of more advanced features like VLOOKUP, IF statements, Pivot Tables, conditional formatting, and the ability to create insightful charts and graphs to analyze data effectively, being able to manipulate and interpret complex data sets beyond basic calculations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Troubleshooting and technical skills

Midwestern Electric is seeking a Project Manager to become a member of our Estimating/Project Management department at our Indianapolis location. We currently specialize in highway lighting, ITS system installation and maintenance, temporary and permanent traffic signals and high voltage electrical work.

Primary Responsibilities
• Procure work and develop clientele.
• Manage project development from initiation to closure.
• Be accountable for project results.
• Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout project life cycle.
• Effectively manage project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved with change order forms.
• Lead, coach and motivate project team members on a proactive basis.
• Work with other disciplines within the company to share information and collaborate on combined estimates to ensure all work is captured and properly estimated.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
• Solid knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating and engineering principals and techniques, as well as accounting principles.*
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products.* *
• Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.* *
• Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.* *
