Job Summary:
The Fleet Manager oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of each of the company’s owned vehicles and equipment. This position will be in charge of purchasing vehicles and equipment as well as managing maintenance related items associated with our vehicle and equipment fleet. The Fleet Manager must possess strong coordination skills, technical knowledge of vehicles and construction equipment, and have a proactive approach to fleet management.
Essential Functions:
Work directly with a team of mechanics and shop personnel to assist with daily maintenance and operational functionality of the company’s equipment and vehicles.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle and equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, repairs, and certifications.
Purchase parts and equipment requested by shop.
Supports the enforcement of safety regulations and promotes a strong safety culture.
Provides educated input for strategic fleet investments.
Promote efficient usage and long-term strategies for upgrading and improving fleet assets.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Supervises all aspects related to equipment and vehicle fleet.
Administers vehicle fuel card program.
Ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations as it relates to company equipment and vehicle registration, emissions, licensing, titling, and insurance.
Supports the procurement, maintenance, and disposal of vehicles, trucks, heavy machinery, and specialized equipment.
Assist in coordinating equipment deployment and retrieval to all job sites.
Monitor fleet utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and assist in identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
Generates and analyzes fleet and equipment reports from company utilized software.
Willingness to learn operation and utilization of heavy equipment.
Responds efficiently and effectively to equipment failures working with Project Managers and the Mechanics team.
Stays up to date on industry trends, technological advancements.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Outstanding leadership skills, including goal-setting, motivation and training.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and telemetric software.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, CDL A preferred.
Required to travel to job sites as well as all company locations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum three years of prior experience in fleet management or related role, preferably in the construction industry.
Experience in the construction industry preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer in a shop environment.
Ability to communicate, interact, and train staff promoting best practices on the operation of equipment and vehicles.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
